New Year - New Memories

2013 was, well, eventful. Eventful in both good and not-so-good ways. It was filled with ups and downs, and I'm very much looking forward to ringing in a new year, with a fresh start.

One thing I've noticed is that time seems to be going by so quickly. And while it's passing by, it's easy for us to forget the little things in life that have made us smile and feel good.

The other day, a friend on Twitter shared a link with me, For 2013: Make a Memory Jar. Instantly, I was in love with the idea! If you're obsessed with Pinterest like I am, then I'm sure you've already seen the Memory Jar idea.

You find an old mason jar, or get a new one from the Dollar Store even, and keep it on your counter or desk. Somewhere out in the open, that you will see every day. Keep some brightly coloured post-it notes beside the jar, as well as a pen. Every day write down something that happened that made you smile; write down a kind word for a loved one. Anything positive.

Then, on NYE you can sit down with your family/loved ones - or even solo, and re-read all the happy memories from the past year. Another benefit is when you're having a particularly low day, pull a random piece of paper out and read the memory. It will instantly put a smile on your face!

At the end of the year, you'll be amazed at all the little things that made you smile throughout the year. It will help you refocus and realize things really aren't that bad! That there is a lot of good in your life.

I will definitely be doing this for 2014, will you?
