I had the pleasure of attending an amazing event this week, #KISSANDTELL was Love4aCure's second annual fundraiser. Each year, Love4aCure picks a registered charity to support. The proceeds from this years event went to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
Princess Margaret is one of the largest comprehensive cancer treatment facilities in the world. Every day over 1,000 patients go through their doors and Princess Margaret has the capacity to deliver diagnostic, treatment and follow-up care to close to 200,000 patients and their families every year.
Seems like nowadays, everyone knows someone who has had a battle with cancer, myself included. I have had family members as well as close, personal friends battle this disease. So when I was asked to help with this event, it was a no brainer for me. I wanted to help however I could. So, of course - my gift of gab was put to full use, and I helped with their social media campaign, focusing on their Twitter account.
#KISSANDTELL was held on Thursday February 6th, at The Courthouse in downtown Toronto. This black tie gala was full of the cities sexiest people - all there to raise money for such a great cause. There was a silent auction with prizes from various donors, such as Red Tag Vacations, Luksusowa Vodka, Heineken, Reif Estate Winery, Volos, Don Valley North Toyota and Riverbend Inn to name a few. Another great donor was Giftagram. At the event, the people from Giftagram arranged that 100% of the proceeds from ANY item that was purchased through their app that night, was donated to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. How amazing is that?!
Walking into the venue, my group was greeted by the sounds of Julian Taylor. Julian performed covers of Bob Marley, Imagine Dragons and Oasis, amongst others. His voice and whole stage presence was beautiful. You can follow Julian on Twitter to keep up to date on all of his performances.
While watching Julian perform, we were presented with many appetizers and finger foods to choose from. From breaded shrimp, to vegetable spring rolls. Everything was absolutely delicious. I also spotted the co-host's of #KISSANDTELL, CP24's very own Jamie Gutfreund and Patricia Jaggernauth. They did an amazing job of pumping the crowd up and preparing everyone for the bachelor/bachelorette auction.
Next was the bachelor/bachelorette auction. Let me tell you, these ladies and gentlemen were not too hard on the eyes! They were all gorgeous! People were bidding on individual dates with each of these beautiful people, and the bidding went anywhere from $300 to $5,000. Yes, you read that correctly - $5,000. In fact, when someone bid on one of the ladies, the winning bid was $400. As he walked up on stage to claim his prize, LOL, he asked the auctioneer to round it up and make it an even $500! Such generous people came out to support The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
After the auction, it was time to dance! Insert, DJ Reddy Fox. This was my first time getting to hear DJ Reddy Fox spin, and let me tell you - he is amazing! He played a mix of Top 40, old school, hip hop and R&B. I was so glad I wore sensible shoes because I spent almost the entire night on the dance floor!
All in all, #KISSANDTELL was a huge success! With events like this, hopefully we will be able to find a cure for cancer in our lifetime and help #kickcancersass! I'd like to thank Love4aCure for the opportunity to be a part of #KISSANDTELL. Also, thank you to ClickFlick.ca, and Liam Zalitach for some of the great pics.
