Juice Feasting with Raw Juice Guru

If you remember I went to the VOCAB Lounge over the MMVA weekend a few weeks ago, and one of the perks was meeting Eliane of Raw Juice Guru. I had the opportunity to try out a couple of the juices at the VOCAB Lounge, and was pleasantly surprised with the great taste! I'm not usually the biggest fan of vegetables, in any form (except maybe a few with my steak LOL) - but these juice shots I tried were actually pretty good. So, after trying them - I was optimistic about trying out a 3-day Juice Feast. Knowing that we were going away over the Canada Day long weekend, I arranged to start my Juice Feast as soon as we got back!

What is Juice Feasting?


"Juice Feasting is where you replace all of your meals with freshly-made vegetable and fruit juices. There’s no deprivation, no fasting and no starvation. You drink 3 to 4 litres unlimited fresh organic delicious fruit and vegetable raw juices. During a Juice Feast you turn off your digestion, sending it on a vacation, and allowing your body to heal itself on a cellular level."

What are the Benefits of Juice Feasting?




There are many benefits to Juice Feasting. Everyone goes into it with a different agenda. You could be doing your Juice Feast to lose weight. Or maybe you want to reset your metabolism so that your body will be able to absorb nutrients efficiently. 



Some other advantages and benefits from Juice Feasting:
  • Clearer, more focused thought process
  • Wake up feeling refreshed
  • Less headaches
  • No cravings (sugar, salt etc)
  • A natural glow
  • Less irritable (especially in the mornings!)
  • Better sleep pattern and less waking up throughout the night

I have heard mixed reviews about juice cleanses (or Juice Feasts!), and I wanted to try one out for my own. I wanted to see how my body would react and if I would be able to reap any benefits even though it was only for 3 days. I wanted a restart on my metabolism, and a fresh start to eating better and exercising more. So every morning, for 3 days, Raw Juice Guru delivered a coolers of freshcustomized juice to my door step. That was a huge benefit for me, because in the morning I am far too lazy to make my own. LOL

What was on the Menu?


DAY 1
  1. Romaine, kale, parsley, lemon, cucumber, celery, apple
  2. Manuka honey, aloe vera, lemon, water
  3. Spirulina, pineapple
  4. Carrot, beet, orange, cranberry
  5. Orange, grapefruit, lemon
  6. Aloe vera
  7. Beet, cabbage, cucumber, apple
  8. Swiss chard, apple, celery, cucumber, parsley, lemon
DAY 2

  1. Lemon, kale, pea sprouts, sunflower sprouts, celery, cucumber, apple
  2. Cabbage, cucumber, apple, romain
  3. Wheatgrass, pineapple
  4. Carrot, lemon, celery, collard, pineapple
  5. Orange, grapefruit, lemon
  6. Chlorophyll
  7. Beet, lemon, cucumber, pear, carrot
Day 3
  1. Swiss chard, spinach. Romaine, kale, lemon, cucumber, apple
  2. Celery, cucumber, aloe vera, lemon apple
  3. Wheatgrass, pineapple
  4. Celery, lemon parsley, fennel, carrot, apple
  5. Orange, grapefruit, lemon
  6. Aloe vera
As I mentioned, I really did enjoy all of the juices. I did have to Google some of the ingredients as I had NO IDEA what they were. Seriously, have you ever heard of chlorophyll?! I hadn't! Actually, there was one juice that I wasn't too fond of and that was because I'm not a fan of fresh grapefruit juice. I still managed to drink them all though! *pats self on back*

The Pros and Cons


I felt great on the first 2 days. Seriously! I slept better and woke up with more energy. I wasn't hungry - but I did miss the action of eating. I was surprised because I didn't even have any real cravings. Then Day 3 came along...and I felt terrible. I had a pounding headache all day that just wouldn't go away. I drank so much water, and my juices obviously - but nothing helped. I spoke with Eliane, and she mentioned that during the first 3 days that is when most detox symptoms show. My body was digging out and ridding itself of the toxins. A headache is a common symptom. As is being grumpy and irritable and even acne. Luckily - I just had the headache. All in all I really enjoyed my Juice Feast. I felt less bloated, I'm still sleeping better and I even lost 5 pounds! I have a Breville juicer at home that is finally going to get some use! I plan on making myself some of the juices I enjoyed, and trying out new recipes.
