Tasting the Purity with Purity Vodka

Coming from a bartender/server background - I have had my fair share of vodka over the years. In my early twenties, it was great! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! The older I got though, the less easier it was to handle the rubbing alcohol taste. Insert, Purity Vodka

Purity Vodka was created by the world renowned Master Blender, Thomas Kuuttanen in a hybrid still at an 800 year old castle, Ellinge Castle in southern Sweden.

Last week I had the pleasure of going to the official, exclusive tasting for Purity Vodka at Studio 1098Studio 1098 is a beautiful boutique jewelry shop in Toronto, owned by Tamara Kronis who is a goldsmith, gem milks and jewelry designer who showcases her talent in her shop.

Studio 1098 was a perfect location to host the launch of Purity Vodka. Surrounded by the beautiful, custom pieces the Purity Vodka bottle fit right in! The bottle design is gorgeous and reminds me of a beautifully cut diamond

Not only is the bottle beautiful, the product is delicious. As I mentioned - I have had my fair share of vodka and have never really been a fan of the rubbing alcohol taste after doing a shot. So after partaking in a blind taste test of 2 shots (one Grey Goose, one Purity) I could instantly tell the difference. Purity Vodka was so smooth tasting without the burn after doing the shot. My guess is that the smooth flavour of Purity Vodka has a little something to do with it being distilled 34 times and being the first vodka to ever score a perfect 100 points. Fun fact: Purity Vodka has reached out to Grey Goose for an official taste test...and Grey Goose hasn't responded.

At the Purity Vodka tasting, we had the option of 3 different drinks to choose from.

  1. Vodka Martini (Basically a vodka/water made with Purity Vodka and Spring water)
  2. Purity Vodka Tonic (Purity Vodka, Jack Rudy Small Batch Tonic, Line Juice, Club Soda and a Grapefruit Zest)
  3. Swedish Rain (Purity Vodka, Raspberry Lavender Syrup, Lemon Juice, Cathedral Cellar Brut Sparkling and a Lemon zest)

The amazingly talented Robin Kaufman of Toronto Temperance Society was on hand to serve up these delicious cocktails. Robin also helped develop the menu and drink recipes himself. My favourite, by far, was the Swedish Rain. Obviously. You all know how I love me some bubbly!

Next time you're heading to a BBQ or a party, I suggest bring something different, a bottle of Purity Vodka. The bottle design will impress but, the taste will be even more impressive!

Purity Vodka is available in select LCBO stores at a cost of $49.40
