After The Classic Theatre Festival, where I caught Dial M For Murder - I was able to finally head to my hotel to check in. Most people usually check into their hotels in the afternoon/evening, but because my day was so jam-packed, I didn't get to check in til almost 11pm! Luckily, Greg and Linda, the owners of the boutique hotel Perth Manor were kind enough to wait up for me to check in.

Linda showed me to my room suite, and gave me a tour. Yes, my suite needed a tour because, you see - I stayed in the Victoria Suite, which is a 2 bedroom suite that overlooks the Manor gardens. Unfortunately, not only did I get to the hotel extremely late - but the next day was rainy and gloomy so I was not able to enjoy the gardens. *insert sad face* My suite however was so pretty! The main room had a large, plush queen-sized bed, while the 2nd bedroom had 2 twin beds. Each bedroom had their own TV and the suite had 1 shared washroom. Seeing as it was just me, oh and George - we had ample space!
Over breakfast the next morning, Linda was able to give me a brief history about Perth Manor. Perth Manor is a beautiful building that was originally built in 1878, as a family home. Many years later the house was taken over by Jessie Mable, who was married to John Stewart. You might remember that name from my previous post. This is the same Stewart family that donated the piece of land that is known as Stewart Park! After being a family home, it was taken over and turned into a seniors residence and then finally - a boutique hotel. Though there have been some changes over the years, such as private en-suite bathrooms being added to each suite; The Manor and the grounds are continuously restored yet still closely resemble the original design.
|Breakfast at Perth Manor|
And...speaking of breakfasts - umm, hello! Breakfast is made fresh to order and is not your typical continental breakfast. There is a menu you get to choose from, no buffet. I chose the raisin bread french toast and bacon, drizzled with THE BEST maple syrup I have ever had. No wonder - it was fresh and local - like almost everything else I ate that weekend!
As I mentioned in this post, Perth is a hot-spot for weddings and Perth Manor tops the list of places to wed and host your reception. In fact, the night I checked in, they had just finished hosting a rehearsal dinner for a soon-to-be wed couple! There are a few rooms to hold small groups for a sit down dinner, maximum 22-40 - however, the garden is ideal as you can put up tent and host your entire event outdoors! Which would be lovely...as long as it doesn't rain! LOL
George and I had a lovey stay at The Perth Manor! It's a beautiful, family-run, boutique hotel. I loved that the building and the grounds have been kept to resemble the original design. The Perth Manor adds to the charm and beauty in Heritage Perth!
