Ok, it's officially winter (in my mind and according to the temperature) and that means the holidays are fast approaching! Eeek! #IAmNotReady Don't believe me? Walk into any store - I bet there is Christmas music playing and holiday decorations are stocking the shelves. So - time to just accept it and embrace the season!
Bundle up, stay warm and enjoy all things festive!
The Gardiner Museum is doing just that! This years, 12 Trees exhibit is featuring trees that are bringing some of Toronto's favourite neighbourhoods to life! These one-of-a-kind trees, decorated by some of the city's top designers, will glitter and glisten throughout the museum between November 12 - December 14, 2014.
I got a sneak peak at the trees as the designers were putting their finishing touches on them during a media preview - and I instantly got in the festive spirit! Not to mention - the hometown pride I felt walking around seeing some Toronto neighbourhoods such as Leslieville, Chinatown, Mirvish Village, Greektown, and more come to life on the trees!
“This year,
extraordinary designers, new and returning, will bring their favourite Toronto neighbourhoods
to life in fabulous, one-of-a-kind tree designs.” says Kelvin Browne, Executive Director & CEO. “Started by our
co-founders George and Helen Gardiner 26 years ago to
celebrate the holidays in Toronto and at the Gardiner, it has since become one of the beloved
signature events that signal the beginning of the holiday season in the city.
This year, 12 Trees gives a fresh,
urban take on a festive tradition.”
With designers such as Steven Sabados & Chris Hyndman of CBC’s Steven and Chris, Susanne Shaw of Holt Renfrew, Kimberley Newport-Mimran of Pink Tartan and so many more - I knew the trees would be beautiful. Check out the pics below for yourself! Or - better yet - head into the Gardiner Musuem before December 14th and see them in person!
