Chocolate? Yes, please!
Hummingbird Chocolate in Almonte, ON was the next stop on the itinerary. This small shop crafts batches of dark chocolate, right on site. The husband and wife team behind Hummingbird Chocolate had spent years working with farmers from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, and came across some cacao farms in Haiti. Then they came across a new brand of specialty chocolate bars and came up with the idea to combine the two!
We went into Hummingbird Chocolate after having breakfast at Almonte Riverside Inn and Kitchen. So, truth be told - we weren't really that hungry. You saw how much we ate! LOL
But as soon as we walked in - the scent of chocolate took over and we were immediately hooked. The sampling station in the front of the workshop were our first pit-stop!
We got the opportunity to get a behind the scenes tour of the workshop and learned that Hummingbird Chocolate hand sorts, slow roasts and stone grinds the cacao beans individually. Creating small, perfect batches of flavoured dark chocolate.

Not only was the chocolate delicious, obviously - but Hummingbird Chocolate also offers private tours and tastings!
Disclaimer: The tour and tasting were complimentary as part of the Press Trip, however my views are, as always - entirely my own.
